Aija has been working with environmental issues related to leisure boating and marina activities both nationally and internationally since mid 90’s. Her scientific background as linguist explains her interest in international cooperation. Born and grown in the lake area, Aija now lives by the Baltic Sea in Turku, Finland.

Anita is a public relations and communication manager and coordinator of BalticSeaNow.info project in Latvia. She is professionally interested in environmental issues and development of social media and new communication technologies.

Urmas Lips

Urmas is a professor and leading researcher at his Institute. His main task is to arrange observations at the Baltic Sea in order to better understand the processes responsible for movement of water and substances. He is involved in environmental impact studies of ports and off-shore installations.

Inga Lips

Inga is a senior researcher at her Institute. She is hydrobiologist studying the microscopic life of the Baltic Sea. Her main research subject is phytoplankton ecology and processes behind the phytoplankton dynamics through different seasons.


Amund. E. B. Lindberg

Amund is an oceanographer and dedicated environmentalist, living in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. He has earlier worked with marine environmental monitoring in the Bay of Bothnia and teaching students in applied environmental oceanography in cold waters. Today he is a sea ice expert and also the oceanographic competence coordinator at SMHI

Ivar Tamm

Ivar is a communication manager for Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF). In recent years ELF has more and more activities dedicated to environmental education, public awareness and public participation in environmental decisions and activities. This portal is a wonderful opportunity to carry on this very important task.
